Texture Challenge : HL1 re-makes (No points available)

Postby Blink on Tue Jun 21, 2005 8:38 pm

Here we are with our first small texture challenge of the section. This is just a small something to run alongside the map battles.

A few rules for you to follow:

This won't win you any points, only map challenges will so.

As many of the textures need to be re-made as possible, obviously all of them would be nice.

They do not require normal maps etc, just the normal texture itself will be sufficent.

512x512 is recommended

Exact copies of the textures aren't necessary, as close as can be done will be fine. Improvements to them would be nice :)

Begin!

One week for this challenge, entries will need to be finalised by the 28th.

Good point. We'll keep the forum scored on just map work, seeing as that's most of you are here for. This is just something else for people to enter.

Barrakid is sorting out a another Map Battle.

Points can only be obtained via the mapping challenges.

if the entries are decent enough, we might consider doing regular texture chalenges, and have a rank for them.. no promisses tough

Wiggle, nice touch with the stucco walls, but wtf is with the bottom part? Stucco also? Looks more like wood paneling to me!

I've found a good one. It's made for convreting .tga file into .vtf but it also has a good normal map genarator. It's here http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=149#p149
Hope it helps

Here's my first entry. Took an hour and half or so to make.

BTW this texture uses the same technique Valve and Turtle Rock Studio use to make most of their textures, which is photomanipulation.

Tilable on left and right side.
