well, I thought up a great idea and I would work on it...

...if stupid hammer would work. Even worse, I can't get HL2 to work now.

if you are getting the 211 error try this

"Please click on the link given below in order to run runsafe which will reset your cvars.

steam://runsafe/211

Please validate your game files by clicking on the link given below and *restart your computer* immediately after game file validation.

steam://validate/211

If you do not see the run safe validation links, please copy and paste the run safe and validation text above and go to START > RUN > paste the text into the OPEN field > select OK"

that stopped the errors and fixed a couple other problems but i still have alot of black textures for just about everything except my ground

no I don't get the 211 error - hammer works well except that I can't load certain vmfs anymore.

Half lIfe 2 single player is what's really pissing me off - everything's pitch black in the game (including all the gui) and the only thing visible is the fog! Of all things! Not sure what to do about it since the game cache validating won't even run. There must be something screwed up. I can't delete the local game content either to redownload it all. I'm considering deleting the game cache manually but I don't know if that's safe.

Well ferret, would you really compete in the battle? I was under the assumption that you were working on my map, I haven't been emailed with in progress in 2 weeks however so I'm a little worried, hammer still not going well for you?

Has that thread been created yet? I may have completly missed it, or this thread may be it. :lol:

Megadude, you should have posted a beta of your map before you submitted it so we could critque it (but you might be too late now)

It was soo dark I couldn't see what was going on, the combine soldier would kill me before the trap completed, and the trap didn't even kill the soldier in the end.

Maybe you still have a chance to resubmit it.

Kill you? When I tested it the combine wouldn't even move by itself, never mind kill me. Must be something up with some of my files. Did the trap get to the very end or did it stop part way through? It gets stuck where the big hammers are about 1 time out of 10,but couldn't get it perfect each time, so it should work most times.
