Yah i know, but right now steam won't let me run a game in hl2 deathmatch. So i am trying to fix that as well as finish the map. Right now i have to test my maps with the gmod single player. but my final images wont be with gmod cuz i hopefully will have the server problem fixed, and if not, i will find some other way.

...23 hrs to go, gentlemen....What's the word? who's in, who's not? where's everyone at? I'll have some WIPS of mine soon, the hardest part of this IMO is the surroundings - cos mine has to be viewed from sooo far back, a lot of surrounding area needs to be filled.

Could look up the building to narrow the perspective

I still cannot get mine to compile, so it looks like you will just have to be satified with my source material:

The map has the finished building, including the lower base, domes, and trees planted on the lower roof areas. Kind of like a built-in park. It really does look a lot like the pictures, but I guess it is too massive to compile.

Terminator: I doubt it, mine is approx 12,000 * 20,000 * 15,000 units, with a skybox measuring around 6,000 * 14,000 * 1400. Sure, the compile times are a bitch, but a little clever func_detailing and a whole lot of patience has served me well. You've still got 15-odd hours, why not give the compile process one more shot?
Anyway, I'm largely done. I've taken a few screenies for now, but I'm gonna give it some work tonight, see if I can't get one more compile in before submitting, snazz it up a bit.

Mine is 30720 square by 9984 high. :(

Anyway, when will this end for me? It is about 3:00 AM where I live...

Crap. It really does not like these curves I have. It keeps deleting individual faces on the most complex brushes, even though they are perfectly valid.

Edit:
Here is the best I can get out of Hammer:
Image
The back clipping plane is cutting right through the center of the building, but you can see about 50% of it. It is symetrical...

You can see where it has deleted a couple of my faces. I had to re-build those domes using simple blocks because it kept doing the same thing to my spheres. I could fix it, but it would take some time...

terminator, I have some suggestions to help your compile:

1. Fill all that empty space (and I mean all that empty space) with skybox brushes. There should be as little empty air as possible. If you have spots in mind where you want to take pictures, leave those little spots empty, since most entities disappear when you are outside of the skybox (does this make sense?)

2. Make sure that any brush that ISN'T square or rectangular is tied to a func_detail. By the look of your map, you should have a majority of func_details.

3. If you just want to make sure the map works, don't run vrad -- that'll cut down compile by more than half sometimes.

4. Try fast vvis (who wants to wait for portalfolw?)

I hope some of those help.
