After seeing how many people were voting for reeke (who obviously needed no help to take first), and it would not be fair to vote for myself, I decided to help Hemuuuli out for a chance at some sort of placement.

Hemuuuli and I were the only ones, I felt, who actually made a real cave:

Reeke's awesome map looks, basicly, like a hole in the ground; like an overgrown sinkhole. Really cool looking, but not really a "cave" per say...

Cur_sed's map was more of a hole behind a waterfall: barely fitting the cave discription, and the battle was all about a cave...

As for Rocket_Robinhood's map... erm... It honestly could have used more work.

So I had to vote for the other real cave.



Thanks for the vote reeke. Like I said, I did not think you would need any help to take first place. By the look of things, you win hands down. If it had been a closer race, I would have voted for you, but you owned us all...

Had to vote for reeke because, well, it's the most brilliant. Despite Terminator not really realizing that caves are, by default, holes in the ground (some are at high elevation, some low), it's the most brilliant realization of a cave I've seen here. The displacements are very smooth and thought through very much, the textures are amazing, and to top it off, the lighting is just superb. This map (even above it's very unusual, interesting theme) just exudes originality, thought and style. Amazing.

Not to say that Terminator and Hemuuli did bad work, I actually really liked their caves, but it just didn't ooze the polish of reekes. Good job everyone, but Reeke, seriously, top quality work.
