NMRiH Poster Contest

Postby InZaneFlea on Wed Aug 24, 2005 11:44 pm

The "No More Room in Hell" team would like to officially announce our first art contest for the mod. As of today we are looking for anyone interested in participating in creating advertisement posters that will add an original and unique sense of realism to our maps. From posters found in city bus shelters to subway stations to movie theatres and more, we are eager to see what your imaginations can come up with.

The contest will run from August 24th to September 14th, with prizes being awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Guidelines

All participants, artists, and contestants (hereby referred to as "entrants"), must be members of the "No More Room in Hell" forum before submitting their entries. While entrants are not required to post in the forums in order to enter, their membership on the forums is required in order to track their entries and award the winners. Of course, we here at "No More Room in Hell" would like to welcome all new members to participate in our forums and be a part of our growing mod community.

It should be noted that entrants are allowed to employ both photographic and/or drawn images for their poster. Keeping this in mind, all entrants must follow the contest guidelines detailed below:

Image Quality
All posters must have dimensions of 481 x 715 pixels and should be saved in PDF or TARGA file format. The image resolution must be no less than 72dpi, as all poster images must be clearly defined.

Rules
All entrants are allowed a maximum of 3 entries. These poster entries can be submitted all at once or at intervals over the contest period. While entrants are allowed 3 entries they will be initially judged by what is deemed to be their best entry out of all their posters. This poster will be used when judging against all other entrants. In the event of a tie between two entrants for a winning position their second and third posters (should they have any) will be judged in comparison.

The following rules must be kept in mind when designing your poster:

1) Avoid Limitations - Entrants should avoid limiting entries to posters that possess content publicizing "No More Room in Hell". Entrants should not refer to "No More Room in Hell" or any parody material. Movie posters about zombies though are permitted.

2) Original Content - Do not use any existing advertisement(s) and simply make changes. We are looking for posters that, while authentic in quality, are not based on any real world counterparts. This includes avoiding images of famous people, commercial products, and corporations. All people, merchandise, services, or corporate entities featured in the poster should be fictitious in nature.

3) Realism vs. Parody - While a poster can have a certain ironic or comedic value to it entrants should temper their entries from becoming too bizarre or comedic. "No More Room in Hell" is based on realism and is trying to recreate a normal real world environment. As such, we do not want to pull players out of this experience with unrealistic scenery (i.e. posters advertising a "Zombie-B-Gone" spray). Entries that exhibit qualities of content that are deemed too unrealistic will be disqualified.

Submitting An Entry
Entrants can submit entries by 3 methods:

· By e-mailing the Art Department Lead, Dark, at Darkdsd@hotmail.com with their poster image(s). The images should be attached to the e-mail in a compressed file format (i.e. ZIP or RAR, but no self-extracting EXEs) and the e-mail Subject line should read: "NMRiH Poster Contest Entry - user name". The user name refers to the name you are registered as in the forum.

· By submitting a PM (Personal Message), via the forum, containing HTML links pointing to the poster image(s). The PM "Message Title" field should read: "NMRiH Poster Contest Entry - user name". The user name refers to the name you are registered as in the forum.

· By posting your entry in the News thread detailing this contest in the forum. From the website the thread can be found by clicking the Comments (#) link below this news item. Please note that non-Privileged Members (forum members with fewer than 100 posts) can create new posts, but after a short period of time they will lose the ability to edit them. If you have posted less than the maximum 3 entries and wish to post additional entries be sure to PM (Personal Message) NMRiH Team Administrators Dark or Mobius to have your new post/entry merged with your original post so that all your artwork is showcased in the same location in the thread. This will ensure that none of your entries are overlooked.

Prizes
After the September 14th deadline has passed the team judges will review all of the entries and rank them based on quality, content, and rule guidelines. On September 18th the winners will be announced on the website, along with their poster artwork.

Prizes for ranking in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place are as follows:

1st Place - The winner will receive the option to either have a new zombie character modeled after photos they provide the team (on condition that the individual in the photos is 18 years or older and has granted the team permission to use his/her likeness) or the winner can choose to have up to 5 different portrait photos of themselves placed on a map.

The winner's poster(s) will be featured in our newest map, "City of Dawn" (Mapper: darth_brush), in several locations around the city or, if a movie poster, at the Dawn Cinema. The poster(s) will be used in-game on one or more maps and will most commonly appear in prime viewing locations. In the final release version of the mod the winner's full name will be added to the credit list for the Art Department. The winner will also be granted "Privileged Member" status on the forums, allowing them access to the Sneak Peeks section of the forum.

2nd Place - The winner will have a corpse modeled after photos they provide the team (on condition that the individual in the photos is 18 years or older and has granted the team permission to use his/her likeness). The winner's poster(s) will be viewed in-game on one or more maps. In the final release version of the mod the winner's full name will be added to the credit list for the Art Department. The winner will also be granted "Privileged Member" status on the forums, allowing them access to the Sneak Peeks section of the forum.

3rd Place - The winner's poster(s) will be viewed in-game on one or more maps. In the final release version of the mod the winner's full name will be added to the credit list for the Art Department. The winner will also be granted "Privileged Member" status on the forums, allowing them access to the Sneak Peeks section of the forum.
