I think I could cope with the bandwidth, lopers only uses about 3-4 gig a day currently, and 4 being a busy day.

There obviously is tonnes of scripts that would do this job, but I would like to get it working with the site, integrated more.

zombie, reckon that's doable mate?

everything is doable, the question is if you have any solid ideas on how to make it "more integrated"

excellent idea, so long as it doesnt get abused.

how about setting up an account on flickr, or something like it? saves bandwith and storage, has a readymade interface, keyword listings, etc etc.

give out the usernamee and p/w here on lopers, or have moderators/admins upload stuff once a week from a stickied submission thread in Art and design, something like that? I'd willingly sign up to be a file-uploading, keyword-correcting keyboard monkey for it.

Sounds good, maybe keeping it external to the site will save a lot of problems.

I volunteer my monkey services if needed. I've been looking for a good opportunity to give something back to lopers for a good while now.

Throwing feces around the room isn't what we were looking for.

I really love the idea of having reference pictures, its something that could make the community stand out even more considering there isn't any other community that has such a thing (that I know of).

Only thing to watch out for is copyrighting and foul images being uploaded.

I personally find it a lot easier to map something while looking at the real thing in a picture. Like when I'm trying to make a realistic looking building.
