Just a quick note that tonight (8pm EST (1am GMT)) the site should be moving on to a new server. You might see some downtime and other weirdness but the result is it will be a much faster server. Like, a lot faster.

Thanks for the heads up. Is the speed increase due to better hardware and/or more bandwidth? Just wondering.

Wonder if I'll be able to notice any increase in speed. As my internet is quite slow.

I'm upgrading from a creaky old AMD 6000 with 2GB RAM to a Intel Xeon E3-1230 3.2GHz Quad-Core with 8GB RAM and almost unlimited bandwidth. The site should feel a lot quicker, mainly on the forums.

It's a hefty upgrade but I do run other sites off the box.

Let me know if there are any problems.

Heh, hopefully it doesn't end up like this one forum I used to frequent. They went to a new host, that didn't like to wait for a reply. I couldn't go to it anymore, as I timed out every time I tried to load the site.

Upgrade was a success, and it's feeling a lot faster for me!
