CS:S Map crashes server after OB update

Postby shawnolson on Tue Jul 13, 2010 3:42 pm

I run a custom map CS:S server and have had a lot of problems keeping the server running since CS:Source was updated to Orangebox. To my horror, one of my own maps now has an error that crashes the server. I cannot figure out what is causing its since the server just freezes without any error logs getting written. The map ran fine for a year...

I know that it happens when anyone happens to turn and look a certain direction on the map (if you happen to open the map it is looking down the region where the waterfall is when on the wooden bridge). The map in question is de_tension (http://www.shawnolson.net/a/1453/new-cssource-map-de_tension.html)

I thought that if I recompiled the map with the new OB settings in Hammer, it would work (which suited me fine since it game me an opportunity to fix a couple things that were discovered after releasing it last year...) But it still fails.

I am not sure what is causing the crash. Perhaps it is the fog at the waterfall? Perhaps there are problems with the soundscapes? Maybe the scrolling waterfall textures? I just don't know. I don't want to spend a lot of time on the map since it was more of a training project to get me up to speed with source mapping... but I really want to figure out the problem so I don't replicate the issue in the map I've been working on for the last several months.

Any ideas or hints would be greatly appreciated.
