.vbsp for detail sprites source 2013

The .vbsp file no longer seems to work for the detail grass sprites. I've tried this in all of the editors but no errors show up.
pre-compiled maps before the update still retain their grass though including custom ones.

Has anybody else ran into this problem?

Yeah, this happened to me too. Although some grass types seemed to work for me such as some of the grass-dirt blend textures and "nature/canal_reeds" (a blend between sand and reeds), and for a custom texture (only in hammer though, and not in game). However these were pretty messed up since I'm mapping for Episode Two (a mod using the ep2 engine to be exact, if you could call it an engine). Would be awesome for it to work though!

Double check pre-compiled maps show sprites. If so, awesome stuff; you still have a detail.vbsp. I accidentally deleted mine once, don't laugh.

Then double-check maps being compiled have correctly assigned detail.vbsp in 'detail' section of map properties pre-compile. Let's get the stupid stuff sorted first eh?

Its gotta be something to do with the compiler.

I've tried recompiling old maps with working sprites but they show up without any. Nothing has been changed and I still have all the source files.

incidentally steam is saying I no longer have source sdk installed and refuses to re-install. Right now I'm just using the editor from the base 2013 bin.

update: displacements no longer receive shadows? Seems to be casting them fine but unaffected by other shadows.

Bumping this old thread, but it's not working for me either. Detail sprites show up in hammer but not in-game. Did you manage to fix it jimonions?

In my case it seems Source Shader Editor was messing things up for me :(
