I feel like a noob for asking - but this problem has been driving me crazy lately, and I just couldn't find a solution anywhere.

As seen in the screenshot the NPCs and weapon viewmodels refuse to be affected by the darker parts of my level. They get correctly illuminated by light entities but when in areas without lighting they appear unlit as seen in the picture.
It's been a while since I've done any mapping, but I'm pretty sure this hasn't happened to me before... Would anyone have an idea what's going on?

Did you build cubemaps? It could be a reflection issue. Is it just npcs and viewmodels? Or other models too.

Make sure your map has no leaks and that you aren´t using vertexlitgeneric materials on brushes. Can´t think of anything else ATM.

Thanks for the replies guys! I solved it :) And boy do I feel silly now.
I used custom materials I had made way back when, and those had the $reflectivity values set too high.
Still kinda odd that models are hyper sensitive to it, but oh well - removing the reflectivity settings solved it. I guess it's a something that needs to be used with discretion.

Were there any cubemaps inside these darker parts of your level? Could be praps an outdoors cubemap carrying over into them?
