Detail props (grass) since Steampipe

I can't get grass to show in my compiled maps. Have detail sprites been broken since Steampipe?

I did once get the to show in Hammer somehow, but they didn't appear in the compiled map. Talking about stock textures btw and stock detail.vbsp. I heard there was a trick to put $translucent 1 in the detailsprites file, but this hasn't worked.

Be sure you don´t have a foreign details.vbsp file in your ep2/custom or root folder. You should have none at all unless you made a custom file. There are some material versions of which´s names end with _noprop, they lack detail sprites.

There are a few problems with detail sprites since steampipe. But AFAIK they not showing up is not one of them.

After I reset the SDK configs I got them to show in Hammer and even my custom ones, but they don't appear in game. There's no errors in the compile log. Tested with just a simple box and grass floor.

You are not providing lots of information, which makes difficult to guess what the problem could be.

- What game and engine are you using?
- Are you suscribed to the beta?
- Do you have custom assets in your map/mod?
- Which compiler tools are you using?

Also, show a screenshot, post your log, things that give people tools to help you.

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.

No Beta SDK.

Using the Hammer inside the game's bin folder.

This is the current state I have it. If I use custom grass and replace the default detail.vbsp it still places some default Valve detail grass on it... Which I really can't understand. I think it's something to do with this custom folder malarky.

I know that "forest_grass_01" (I think that's the name), which is a detail style used on a lot of Episode 2 blend materials, was broken for me at some point. The log would often talk about how it couldn't find it in detail.vbsp. I think what I wound up doing was extracting detail.vbsp from Episode 2's .vpk so Hammer would see and use it.
