Terrain problem

Postby Keyser Soze on Fri Nov 12, 2004 6:51 pm

Okay, I read the terrain creation tutorial, but every time I try to manipulate a surface, the sphere only appears at certain points around the edge of my surface. For instance, the sphere will only change positions when my cursor moves several units away, and it's only on the edge. This means I can only have one of my edges move down or up at a certain point. What to do?

Thanks.

this is just what happens with the tool. I think it is to keep the vertices down. Plus it make the surface go white when i believe it is meant to turn into a mesh. Just 1 of the things that will propbably get fixed.

I guess this means no more detailed (outdoor)mapping until after the full SDK is released?

Lo dude,

When a terrain mesh is created it is basically sub divides the patch in to triangles and each triangle has is 3 vertexs. That means the sphere will jump around the mesh to each of the triangles vertex and will never quite go were you want.

Once you get the hang of the tool you will love it, and i should imagin in the future release of hammer they will fix the mesh problem. But if you dnt like the white, make sure the "grid" tick box has a tick in it. The grid edit tick box can be located on the dsplacment pop up box undernith the create tab in the "masks" section.

Hope this helped
