Stupid VBCT hasn't finished one of my HDR compiles yet... Waste of time, going to move back to the Valve one and not be able to use my computer I guess.

The VBCT is just a batch compiler made an executable. Speed of compiling is in no way influenced by at as the VBSP, VVIS< and VRAD are still Valve's. If it takes long in VBCT, I am pretty sure it will take just as long in Hammer.

I don't mean it hasn't finished one as in it's so slow, I mean it keeps getting random errors and shit that don't allow it to do the HDR compile. The Valve one doesn't do that for me.

I could never get VBCT to work right so I just do it the ol' fashioned way.

Be specific in the errors you are receiving. If you're running Vista or 7 make sure you run it as Admin.

The only thing that seems to work barely good is IE when compiling (so i check forums), unless I disable one CPU and use it to do something else, but that makes compile times take twice. BTW I try to do no computer stuff when compiling, like talking with my wife or kids, or clean the dogshit in the backyard.

VBCT is really just a convenient launcher for Valve's own compiling programs, the same way Hammer is a not-as-convenient launcher for the exact same programs.

So if one works but another does not, then the problem probably lies in the compilation options you are using.
