Well there's of course the one in portal where one of the writings on the wall is login to http://www.aperturelabratories.com/.
1) Type Login
2) Username: cjohnson
3) Password: tier3

But my favorite, not really sure it'd be considered an easter egg, but I doubt many people paid attention to it, was the terminal/console on Enter The Matrix. If you took the time to try different commands and look through the files and shit it was actually kinda cool.

Heh, yeah. Found the squirrel.

Crysis Warhead also has a selection of clearly-not-bugs "secret frogs". In Crysis, it was more along the lines of bugs like floating wildlife...

I'd mention stuff in Deus Ex, but in many ways a whole huge hunk of the plot of the game was built around references which could--isolated--be easter-eggs.

Oh, in Psychonauts, try Clairvoyance on everybody you can. Funny results. Not precisely easter-eggs as much as so much hidden detail that most people would miss it.

Just about all of the skyboxes in Left 4 Dead 2 are from CGTextures.com. I've found about 3 so far that are 100% matches.

I know I've posted this somewhere else before, but I thought it would do well here too.

I think you guys are missing the point.
This wasn't supposed to be an easter eggs thread, it's about actual stuff that you found in games that helped you through the game... Like a complete armor set in Dragon Age that gives you special bonuses :)

thebeanie wrote:I found a laser designator pickup lying around at an enemy position. Getting the designator completely changed the level for me, because now I can airstrike the crap out of those damn AA guns. In fact, on the BC missions you can just look around, check out those random little outposts and find cool stuff. Like how you can get the mortar guidance system on Par For The Course and Crossing Over.

I'd gone out of my way to find cool stuff. It's like the game is rewarding me for finding something awesome. ...check something out or find something and the game actually rewards you for it. Another good example would be the Skulls in Halo 2 & 3, or some of the hidden buildings in Far Cry 2 deep in the jungle (I have one on the first map that I use as a base. It's awesome.). You get a lot of these in open-world games, where there's enough space to hide awesome things in.

Addendum: If you've got Bad Company and you want to get in on the airstriking mayhem, the laser designator on Air Force One is located on the top of the first dam you come to. It's marked with a white X on your map. It's the one that's towards the right side of the bridge (as seen from the direction you approach it).

I think it's pretty obvious that beanie meant actual things that affect gameplay and not just easter eggs... It's just cool stuff that you can actually use, like a special weapon. I don't think laser designator are easter eggs really...

This one time, I was playing Quake 1 and I shot a bit of wall and it opened up to reveal a little corridor and I walked inside the corridor and inside the corridor I found a box of 15 health and some yellow armor. I was stoked.

This other time, I was playing Quake 2 and I shot a bit of wall and it opened up to reveal a little sludge-filled room and I walked inside the room and inside the room I found some kevlar armour, a BFG and the Doomguy in a cyrotube. I was surprised.

In final fantasy XIII, I found that by randomly rotating the joystick the character will stop, shake their head, and then give you control again. I literally laughed out loud when I did that, because I was talking to a friend and was like "check out this dance!" and then she was running back and foward and then she just stops and shakes her head. XD I did it with each character and it turns out they all have their own animations for it, I love it.

In MW2 I keep randomly seeing soccer balls... Idk what the fuck that's about and everyone else thinks I'm nuts.

The best secret to date though is the NS disco ready room, but I guess that's a mod not a game.

On a more serious note I've just remembered something; the original Warcraft RTS game.

Clicking on a character several times in a row.

1: My liege?
2: Yes, my lord?
3: What is it commander?
4: Yes?
5: What?
6: What is it?!
7: WHAT!
8: STOP CLICKING ME!
9: WILL YOU STOP!

Repeat 8 and 9.

Haha! I remember that. Warcraft was a classic game.

I prefer the Orc Peon in WC3.

After clicking a while he will say: "I'm not that kind of orc!"
Or the Grunt: "Oh, that was kind of nice."
