Modern Warfare 2 - No Dedicated Servers?

I caught wind of this today. I can't really say anything other than "wtf."

Infinity Ward announced on Bash and Slash that MW2 will have no support for dedicated servers on the PC version of the game. No dedicated servers means no custom content like maps, mods, and skins. This also means no 40-man servers and shitty connections in matches. Every game will be hosted on listen servers just like matchmaking for console games. Basically all the things that set the PC version apart from console versions has been totally stripped away.


Since this was announced, Amazon.com has lost approximately 2000 pre-orders of MW2, which is slowly growing.


2050+ signings of a petition have been made in a few hours. Anyone against this should sign it as well:

35468 is now the number of people who have signed. Probably more considering it went from 35405 to 35468 within five minutes of my friend telling me and me looking.

I probably will be getting it on 360 if I get it at all, but it's ridiculous to not have it on computer. They probably wont want to lose 40000 sales, so I'm guessing they're going to change it.

Apparently they already lost 120.000$ in preorders on amazon 12 hours after this got announced. Guess it really went bad for them.

Keep in mind it does more than affect their sales. They're now known as the company stupid enough to disallow dedicated servers, effectively pissing off the entire PC demographic. Not to mention any chance of custom content.

That's just the Amazon.com sales, not the thousands of others from direct download websites, gamestop and other retailers. The petition is already up to 37000, probably more by now which is way more than the amount lost on Amazon.com.
