Dragon Age (or: Bioware focken' rock!)

I don't know how many of you heard but the new BioWare game came out a couple of days ago.
I didn't see any other threads about this so, here it is!

Also, check GT's awesome review, it has fantastic visuals from the game.

Official Website

No need to mention, that this is one of the best games of the year, if not THE game of the year, rated 92 in metacritic and 95 on Gamespot alone! Just got the game myself, I'll try it when I'm home since my laptop won't run it.

Personally I think that BioWare is the best games developer in the world at the moment. And it isn't for nothing: the way these guys write a story, and the way they make characters, should be taught in schools. They demonstrate this in Mass Effect with a triumphant story and setting that sucks you into the game.
This time, we're going in for the peak of their creation, as the social dynamics within your party will play a major role in the game. Members will argue about what's the best move, have fights, fall in love, and realisticly interact with everything in a way that matches their character. Cheers for BioWare! Another kickass game from the masters.

NOTE: Get it for PC. Reviews say that console versions are much inferior.

I saw the gameplay and it actually looked really boring with the commanding your character rather than actually controlling them...I can't confirm that, but I have had some others tell me the game was disappointing because of the combat.

I'll have to look in to it more, especially if it got a 92 from Metacritic.

If this is like Mass Effect but iwht swords I am up for it. But if it's like Guild Wars where you click Attack and it does it for ya, nah I'll pass.

At nay rate, I WANT MASS EFFECT 2.

If you played Baldur's Gate then you should know what you're getting into.
I don't don't know if you can only directly control your own character, but you can freeze the game to give orders to others, and they will follow once the game is unpaused. I played a few games that use this system and it's very nice, because it allows you use time to your benefit and plan some sinister tactics... I really loved it and I hear it's pretty much the deal over here as well.

Edit: Added Video Review to first post.

I fucking hate wolves in this game, seriously - I hate them. I'm a level 7 Warrior who kills giant undead revenants for a living but GOT ONE-UPPED BY A PACK OF FUCKING WOLVES?!

Preposterous.

Otherwise the game is cool - I liked it.

Haha Cremator666 :D yeah i must agree that the difficulty can be REALLY spiky at times, also i had to play it on "easy" cause normal mode was just too darn hard at times.

Just finished it, and i have to say its one of the best games of this year.. Definately worth buying.
(i love how much story they have put into characters, my favorite was Morrigan)

Morrigan: "And now we have a dog. And Alistair is still the stupidest member of the party."

Looking at the vid, it looks really like a merge of KotoR and NWN2 in a new fantasy universe. Can't wait to try it out.

I don't understand how is this humanly possible, since the game came out some 3-4 days ago and it takes 50-60 hours to finish.
You must be a skilled survivor to have gone through 3 days without getting up from your PC...

Oh and Cremator, what's wrong with wolves? I really like wolves! What's the problem?

it did take 34.1 hours from me to complete it (steam stats)

think i had only 41% complete rating or so and i DID all side quests that i was able to find, might downloaded content affect this ration?

It looks like dungeon siege but far more awesome.

I was thinking about getting it for console but might hold on for a better rig.

Whooohooohoo!
Shit's fucking epic! I was expecting an NWN2 combat system but it's far better than that, I'm loving every second of it, playing as a Dwarf Warrior.

Oh you did not just said that, no sir.

You know how they always come in a huge town-ravaging, sister-raping pack? Yeah. And you know how they like to knock you down and munch on you until your health reaches zero? During which you CAN'T HEAL?

Hence, I have countless deja vus of seeing one of my characters knocked down and mauled to death just as I was about to assign them some healing - it's a friggin pain. I don't know if your strength affects the time in which the wolf will ass-rape you on the ground , sometimes the character kicks it off just in time but even then it takes like, 60% of your health and if you happened to be lower than that you're pretty much screwed.

Therefore - fuck wolves.
And bandits.
And blood mages.

Fail, my Warrior is immune to knockdowns. And can take a fuck load of damage.
