Postby jgoodroad on Wed Dec 09, 2009 1:42 am

my steam glitched out and I was forced to redownload, but not only lost all of my mapping data but it is also not letting me access hammer, saying the config is invalid or missing, and I don't know what to do... please help.

you may have to start all your games and then open the sdk again. How would it have deleted all your mapping fils though?

Highlights the importance of backups.

I don't know, all I know is that when reinstalling steam it uninstalled my steam folder, which had the files in it

I understand that, and I understood it when I was typing, I just decided not to correct it, and I am seriously considering not changing the title...

funny story about that, I have a alpha backup of one of my maps, and I thought I made another backup of a current state but accidently copyed the bsp instead of the vmf files...my bad.

It must have deleted your spell check as well.

Horrible spelling.

On topic, it wouldn't have deleted your vmf's though, as well as any other custom content. Just look for it, it should still all be there.

Windows has a search function to find files. There's also this cool website called google where you can type in problems and get answers.

http://www.google.com/search?q=hammer+invalid+or+missing+configuration&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

You really didn't need to make a thread for this, you have all the tools you need to fix this yourself. ALWAYS GOOGLE BEFORE YOU MAKE A THREAD. If you make a thread anyway, though, the least you could do for the people who take time to help you is type your question in English.

Why are you replacing periods with commas in all of your posts? I don't like your grammar and spelling skills!
