Your Favorite Horror Games

Postby Turd Ferguson on Tue Dec 22, 2009 6:58 pm

While this is out of season, I have lately been craving to start playing some horror games. What I'd like to know is, in your opinion, the best horror games out there, preferably on the Xbox 360 (however any input is fine). Which ones are definitely worth my time this Christmas? Any input would be great. Thanks. :smt023

In respective order:

Dead Space

FEAR series

Silent Hill Homecoming (I haven't played any of the others)

Resident Evil never really caught my attention. I used to watch my brother play RE2, which is arguably the best one of the entire series. I watched 4 and 5 and they seemed to really stray from the horror aspects and focus on the action a lot more. Doom games weren't scary at all, and Doom 3 got incredibly boring. Quake was the same way, although Quake is hardly a horror game, I guess.

Dead Space is definitely the best horror game I've ever played. The gore is incredibly well-done and plays a key role in the game. It's not as psychological as games like FEAR, but it's definitely a creepy game. It's supposed to be smoother on the 360, control-wise.

The Silent Hill's are pretty freaky.

Defintely Silent Hill, and Thief 3 which is scary as hell when it isn't being epically awesome. F.E.A.R is somewhat lacking in scariness but makes up for it with cool action, and they say Dead Space is real spooky but I haven't played it.

Doom 3 is the only game that has scared the living fuckkery out of me.

And that's not easy to do.

Goddamn it people, Call of Cthulhu deserves some recognition in this place. Plus, it's cheap on Steam.

Agree with ad_hominem.

Also, FEAR of course. And why does everyone think Dead Space is so great? I found it extremely boring and predictable and apart from the graphics it... well imo it sucked.

Dear god even my girlfriend found this game to be as scary as a sleeping puppy. Seriously mate Doom3 was an embarrassment, I played that game through and maybe once (!) got barely slightly tense... All the scares were predictable and resulted in bullets in the face of every monster trying to look scary. The game ended up being scared of ME and by the time I reached the final boss, I could practically read the day's paper while fighting. Ravenholm was a lot scarier than Doom3!

CONCLUSION: YOU'RE A SISSY. :smt021
RECOMMENDATION: MAN UP MAJOR!

(While the above is valid and true, this is also vengeance for you calling me a stinky ass-n00b or whatever it was, which part from being wrong, is not very nice altogether) So you see, I didn't start the flame war

Scariest game nobody played? I'd like to give it a shot though if you say it's that good.
