the GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT game list

Postby jister on Thu Jan 14, 2010 3:22 pm

There just has to be a topic like this around, because i keep buying games (often ratted 8 or higher) and i keep getting disappointed!!
companies get millions of dollars how can they then fuck shit up???

I had many games like this on xbox360 and on PS3!! less on pc.

but Resistance 2 was the one that triggered a profound hate towards game developers that fuck up perfectly good games by ??? rushing?? laziness?? greed??? whatever the reason...

take resistance 1 if you play the game it feels like you're hovering above the floor??? thats a major turn off for any game. it was ok for wolvenstein 3d but come on man PS3?
anyways gone stop ranting...

so post any disappointing game you bought, by favour ones that where ratted above 7 and still sucked rats ass.

SUCK ASS LIST:
- resistance 1&2
ratting: 9/10??? http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/resi ... lt;title;0

I didn't have any high expectations and thus wasn't disappointed. I might be disappointed in february though, come Heavy Rain, AvP and Stalker.

Resistance 2 was perfectly good. Not amazing, but good, if occasionally frustrating.

On the other hand, need I say more than this?

Only thing that could make you disappointed from Stalker is the completely fucked up and buggy first release.

Sim City 3000 was kind of good but you could definitely feel the presence of suck
Sim City 4 had nonsensical things but the Deluxe version brought in great features - that still sucked in the long run
Sim City Societies felt more like City Life which is bad for a Sim City game
Command & Conquer 3 50% turn-off, EA fucked the story and the environment in the ass
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 100% turn-off for me as a C&C fan but gladly EA has buried the game in their ever growing landfill of FAIL
Command & Conquer 4 BETA as a beta it keeps constantly changing and lately they've made some wise decisions but they should rename the game to Control & Dominate 4 - since that's what it is.

I recently bought that Cabelas big game hunter for my wii, which I thought was pretty cool because I like to hunt IRL and it comes with a plastic shotgun, but it's a total piece of shit and I am sorry I wasted $60 I could have bought a good bottle of rum instead.

I can totally imagine going hunting with a bottle of rum.

On another note, Stalker Clear Sky kind of disappointed me in that it seemed a lot more constrictive and less immersive than SoC, that's the only reason I'm apprehensive. Though I have heard from a few people who speak russian that the new one seems pretty solid for a stalker release.

Doom3 was a major letdown for me, as was Spore which ended up being just a sucky game.

But the greatest dissapointment of the year goes to Duke Nukem Forever, for never coming out and getting totally canceled after some 50 years of developement.

Oh yeah, Spore was a big disappointment, I had pre-ordered and all that shit and was really excited about it, and it was great fun! ... For 2 hours, which is pretty much up to the space stage. But the expansion packs did make it more fun... For another few hours.

Oh another game that was a bit disappointing.. Oblivion. I mean, I was REALLY into that shit around a year before it even came out and I was so fucking hyped about it that I was let down, seriously some things they showed in the trailers and stuff were never fully implemented, I remember seeing a "gameplay" video of a women in the book store in Chorrol, she like... Punished her dog with spells because it was interrupting her reading and sleeping, stuff like that, I never saw that in the game.

If you shouting at me to fix my typos means a rocky relationship, then so be it...
Personally, I found Doom 3 to be a pile of dung. It wasn't scary or very interesting. It summed up to just running around corridors with a gun. Oh and the flashlite had some impressive dynamic lighting, which was probably the best thing about the entire game. So there you have it!

Personally, I don't see how Doom 3 could possibly be a disappointment, unless people weren't expecting it to be a Doom game - "running around corridors with a gun" is pretty much what Doom was all about, and in my opinion id managed to pull off maintaining the core mechanics while keeping it interesting throughout.

My personal choices for major letdowns are STALKER: Clear Sky, Spore (to an extent - I still enjoyed it, more so as it went on), Halo 3, the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter games (they don't deserve the Ghost Recon moniker) and Call Of Duty World At War.

Also, I think Banter isn't serious in his berating, Refael.
