I've come across less hacks in MW2 than I have in any valve related multiplayer game, which is interesting since they both use vac no? Probably because they switch engines more. I guess I'll have to give hackers a bit more time.
Really, this game is sort of between for me. I love the combat and equipment menus, as well as the killstreak deathstreak rewards that give the game a bit more "umph" that a game say counterstrike. However, at the same time, the aspect of leveling diminishes the competitive factor of the game, and the game just doesn't at all feel competitive. So, is there even a reason to play the game beyond just playing it with friends?
As for the single player, it's half assed. There's no need to discuss it, while they did some interesting things it isn't something I would say is brand new to the genre. Innovation is the least of my worries if they do something BETTER than everyone else, but this game doesn't deliver on that spectrum. Spec Ops can be fun on occasion, but while being a little bit fun they're a bit too repetitive for my tastes.
I think MWII implemented some things to take a rather boring game genre and make it a bit more interesting again. That's about it. The lobby system is leagues better than L4D2's though, so give them credit where credit is due. And in comparison to valve games, the menus are quicker to load and aren't unnecessarily bulky, and you aren't halted during map loading / scenario loading unlike in TF2/CS:S/L4D2, where you basically can't even cancel joining a server until you are in the game.
