cubemaps errors with stock HL2 textures

Hi Lopers,

maybe someone will be able to help with this strange error-

after building cubemaps, roughly 50% of stock HL2 textures produce this strange checked pattern.
This has now been happening for a few weeks , and cant seem to locate the cause.
So far i have verified game files on all my HL2 games, but still no joy..

anyone have an answer to what would be causing this ?

seems that:

1. the cubemas dont have any imagefiles in their cache
2. this is the default missing texture-texture

looks like the cubemaps cannot become safed correctly... thats all i can tell :/

If I can be honest, that looks like your texture has a missing normal map. I'd double check your VMT and subfolders if it's always that texture.

I've never seen that happen on a blend texture...check the VMFs of the original textures, then the blend texture VMF.

Going to agree with pink panther on this one. While it's been ages since I have had any errors like this, from what I recall missing or messed up cubemaps turn up pink and black, wheres missing normal or perhaps detail maps turn up black and white?
