A thread to talk about the new Alien vs. Predator game coming out soon. I pre orderd this yesterday because i am a fan of the franchise(s) and my favourite games i play are L4D/L4D2 and TF2 etc

Do you guys think this game will be anywhere near as good gameplay wise as L4D2? Because to be honest ive seen hardly any gameplay videos, just the trailers for each race etc.

I have no idea about the gameplay, but if it's like the other AvP I played, I don't think it's anywhere near L4D since it's 4 player coop/8 player versus. It does look awesome and I hope it will bring as much joy out of the single player as the AvP2 did, but... Since it's just called AvP does that mean it has nothing to do with the other game?

It's not at all like TF or l4d Also, say AvP3, because that's what it is. Don't disregard the old champions! Blasphemie...


Anyways, I really hope it'll be good. Rebellion hasn't made anything good in a long time. If it sucks we'll still have Aliens: Colonial Marines to look forward to. And that's made by gearbox which promises well.

What everyone is able figure out from all video material released is that the gameplay will be a lot alike the older AVP games. Humans will have motion sensors, deployable turrets, machine guns and flamers. Aliens will be able to crawl on any surface, use their tails like spears, burst skulls with the inner jaws. And the predators use different vision modes, plasma cannon, blades, cloaking device and such. The gameplay will probably be a bit like L4D but I don't expect a lot of similarities. I hope that those two games will not have a lot in common (no offense to L4D though).

I am very excited of the game and I have high hopes for it.

The game looks fun, but I will need a demo to make my final judgment. And apparently Rebellion is actually releasing a demo. (what I heard at least)

Just look for alien vs predator gameplay on youtube. There's a bit of gameplay of everything, though most isn't exactly high definition.

yeah, i was looking for some HD pc gameplay stream type vids. Like this time before l4d was released there was tuns for that, direct gameplay feeds.

But this is nothing, I watched actual in-game WIP footage which is now deleted from YT due to copyright :/ Sucks.

Oh and the demo is coming out Feb 4th. Damn, I haven't finished Mass Effect 2 yet, and this comes out

I think NS2 already blows this game out of the water visually, though the game type against the Predator looks kind fun, a bit like the hidden except, well, not hidden no?

I love all sorts of stealth, but I believe it will be rather difficult to not be seen in the game. It will only be useful in SP I guess, I mean, during multiplayer if you go dark the average marine is just going to hail lead in your local area so it's kinda hard to hide.

For true cinematic epicness you'll have to play the SP I think.

Despite the fact the made AVP:2000, which was good, don't get your hopes up too much, Rebellion doesn't have the *ahem* best track record.

Oh shit looks like I'll have to take a vacation on Feb 16th.
I played AvP2 and it was great. I loved how all the stories combined together, and how you got to see the same thing from different angles because every character was someplace else when it happened. I have some high hopes as well for the new game, but honestly I don't think they can match AvP2...
