Battlefeild: Bad Company 2

Postby Parker on Sat Feb 06, 2010 10:11 pm

I pre orderd this game on steam after looking at some gameplay videos and the system requirments. My pc easily meets the minimum requirments and apart from not having a quad core prossesor, i would be at the recommended requirments.

So...

I load up the beta, all is well, menu and mutiplayer menus etc looking very nice. I get onto a server no problem, but...

THE GAME RUNS LIKE A PEICE OF SHIT, EVEN ON LOW SETTINGS!

my pc specs are:

AMD x2 6400+
4gig Ram
ATI Radeon HD 4870

so have any of you seen the state of this ****ing game?

I wish i could get a refund off Steam for this, because it could go down as false advertising to be honest, the games requirments are a load of pooh.

It means you spelled it wrong.

Also the game is beta. Perhaps things will get fixed.

Are you sure it's the game and not something with your computer? Check the official forums - if this problem is a major one it should have it's own thread.

You should probably make sure you don't have too much running in the background, let's say I'm compiling a map in Hammer and play a fairly new game I'm sure it would cause some FPS drop.

Ofcourse you do, there's always shit going on, just check the Task Manager and see what takes the most memory, is it important that this is running?

And if nothing is running, check the forums as I've said. It could be an isolated problem.

EDIT: I checked the steam forums, it seems that the beta is in fact unoptimized.

There are no refunds on a problem you created. The minimum requirements mean you can play the game, and you can. As 'play' means play it 800x600, windowed everything on low, you can still play it. If you're upset or wish to play it in a better quality then;
1. hope they improve the game (it's still a (closed) beta)
2. update your machine

edit:

Yes I have, and I quite like it.

You're new to pc gaming?

Close topic noa, k?

- edit 2 -

You also didn't said if you are running Windows XP, Vista, 7, Linux, OXS? Neither have you told your ram speed, whether your drivers are up to date and maybe not even how old your windows is and if files are fragmentated.

I'm not flaming simply pointing out there are some much possible unknown causes.

No i'm not new to pc gaming, ive been playing since counter strike source was released and my favourite games are:

CSS, TF2, L4D, L4D2...

I have windows XP, and my Ram is DDR2.

anyway, if i can't play this game on my machine it must be a load of resource hogging shit. L4d2 runs perfectly on my pc with high settings and looks/plays 10 000 times better then battlefeild shite company 2...

the engine is fail, the developers are fail, the game is... FAIL.

Ok. first thing. It's battlefield.

And I must admit, I was harsh.

Vcool posts says most. The game isn't optimized yet. So I guess we'll have to wait for an update on the beta or for the real deal.

2th of march eh ;)

Ok. The engine is not fail. I will not stand by and let Dice be called failers.

The frostbite engine seems to be a very nice multi-platform engine.
