I hope this Crysis game actually gives us a true open area. Like the entire city to explore and also missions that you can do in any order.

First game was still linear as fuck.

not really, you have several ways to reach points tho

heh, their Nanosuit 2 unveil is like a car advert.
Having replayed crysis recently I must say I'm interested but not really hyped.
I just wonder how they'll kill the aliens.

Looks pretty epic, nice that it's coming out on console aswell, as my PC is ok but i think it would die if i tried to run crysis. Unless i get a new graphics card which i might save up for.

It doesn't have to be "sandbox" to be free roaming, for me it would've been fine if the mission setup would've been the same, but you can attack from every direction. Crysis simply didn't let you do that, in spite to the claims. Best example was that one base where I so wanted on top of the mountian to snipe from above...

My principle concern for this game is the fact that you will be fighting the aliens...

The aliens utterly ruined the last third of the game.

I have to disagree. Crysis isn't that overrated. The community for it is actually very small compared to other games and Crysis never got a ton of recognition since it was a PC only title. The only thing it's famous for was its insanely good graphics that destroyed every other game during its time. There's plenty of other games out there now that have equal or better graphics. An overrated game in my opinion would be something like MW2.

PS: I'm fairly sure the trailer was done in the engine. That's how they did the opening trailers in the first two games, minus the parts showing how the suit worked in the first game's opening, which was more than likely pre-rendered. Either way the old trailers looked just as good as this one.

It was proven that almost all the Crysis trailers provided by the company were in-fact either out of engine or rendered on a higher tier setting and post processed. The game will not look like the trailer when you play it.

So what, no matter what you do and how you do it, you still end up doing the mission in some specific order.

The previews I read promised me an entire island to explore with a dynamic night/day cycle and fancy random weather effects.

Everything STILL happened in some specific order - the whole randomness and dynamics of the game were lost.

I hope this game is more like that, random and the missions are in no specific order. You wander around a city kicking alien butt with fancy weather effects and a day night cycle.

Also nub - Crysis was hyped to BITS, it's just that after playing most people moved on while a small number stayed in the Crysis community.

Yes, this is in engine. Using the Off-line rendering mode. Although we may have flying paper like in the trailer! :-D

And i'm sure some real time.

If cry engine 2 can do this right here in real time "A scene i made in sand box" then i'm sure this trailer is in engine.

The godrays look 10x better than in the 1st game, I hope they do it in such a way that it's only in dusty areas though. Last I checked, Manhattan wasn't in the dustbowl :P
