Looks like they stole all the unique features from other games and impimented them into this game. Low polys, exessive blood and colorful props make it look terrible. Im just thinking that CSS could be this game with 2 modifications. The whole DMM maps can be done by any hammer mapper. Animations are crap and guns fire funny. Idk if this makes sense to anyone else but it seems to "Clean" to be enjoyable... makes me think of those back burner FPS's that used to show up on PS2 and sometimes PS1.

This whole game looks like it's set to burst onto store shelves and immediately catch fire and collapse. Seriously, it's been a while since I've seen such a failboat of a game being touted as a spiritual sequel to anything as succesful as counter strike.

Some of the ideas are kind of cool, I.E. terrorists using hostages as meat shields and stuff like that which makes the objective even more important in a game like CS. However, animations are shit, lighting is shit, UI is shit shit.

Ofc not all ideas are bad. Some make sense (like the meatshields). But in the end its better to keep a game simple then overcomplicating everything. CS is fun as it is and thats because of its good gameplay which isnt complicated at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if a mod was started copying Tactical Intervention, but does a much better job making it. In fact I wouldn't mind working on that mod myself.

An official follow up is a long way off. You might classify TIntervention as a sequel, but it isn't by a long shot. As has already been stated, Counter Strike is represented by 2 game modes and 2 teams. Everything else that has caused the game to become what it is, is not the game itself, but the community that supports it. People do not talk about it much any more, but the people who still play it are completely dedicated. I am worried about the future though for both 1.6 and Source, as many of those of us who made maps and mods for the game have all but dried up. Although there is still a plethora of material I am yet to play on it, I think more needs to be created, and soon, because otherwise the community will die.

The CS:S community is not dead at all... Look at the Steam statistics. CS:S and CS still have more players than any other game on Steam, including MW2 most of the time. The community definitely won't die because of a lack of awful custom maps.

Also ME:S is not dead unless ME:S stands for something other than I think it does.

Zip I think he was saying ME:S was an example of someone making something for CS:S, not that it's dead.

ME:S (Mirror's Edge: Source) is a small mod for CS:S Generalvivi and a few other lopers are workin on that has some sexy level design modeled after the atmosphere of the Mirror's Edge game.

I think he's taking a break on it to work on getting Chell's Legend going.

I like the idea of taking hostages hostage, or actually being infiltrated/exfiltrated from a level (if you're CTs). But TI looks so... bleh *shudder*

IIRC I think Tony Sergi's working on TI...you could probably find out more by asking him at #hlcoders IRC.

Anyway, no matter what happens, if there is a CS release half the community are going to whinge about it and play the old one...that's the entire fanbase of CS Promod (though I will concede that promod does target clan gameplay for better reasons than just because everyone complained when CSS came along).

Oh and also, I think TI is geared at the Korean market. *shudder*.

If it's got good rego I'll get T.I. COD4 was kinda like the 'New CS' but it didn't have the staying power because of it's some what poor lack of updates.
Valve wish list:
-Triangle Displacements in hammer/source
-Movable Datum(grid) Planes in hammer
& Arc Based Datum Planes
-Counter Strike 2
