It's already filled. I was at the screen with the actual download button but didn't press it right away because I didn't think it was a limited beta. When I finally clicked it it was already full and the download button disappeared. Hopefully the beta doesn't last long and they release it quickly. It doesn't seem like there's anything groundbreaking in this update though so it's not a huge deal.

Email from Mike Durand to hlcoders sent at 22:52 (GMT):
Mike Durand wrote:Hi All-

We are updating the SDK later today to address the issues with using Hammer and Model Viewer with games built with the 2007 release of Source. Here are the release notes:

==Source SDK Update==

The Source SDK was updated today to fix tool problems for some games and mods. We are sorry for the disruption to your work that the SDK issues may have caused for the past week. Thanks very much for your patience.

=SDK Launcher=

The terminology for Engine Version has changed and now maps to the year of release rather than to particular products. Here are the options now present in the list of engine versions along with the games which utilize them:

Source Engine 2006
Half-Life 2
Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Half-Life 2: Episode 1

Source Engine 2007
Half-Life 2: Episode 1

Source Engine 2009
Day of Defeat:Source
Portal
Team Fortress 2

Please note that you may need to re-create the game configurations for total conversion mods that were built using 'Source Engine 2007'. Simply run the 'Edit Game Configurations' utility to do this.

Valve games should show up under the appropriate engine version. If they do not correspond to the list given above then you can either manually edit the configurations or run the Reset Game Configurations utility.

=SDK Tools=

There are now tools supporting three versions of Source in the SDK distribution. If you are creating content for a game or total conversion based on 'Source Engine 2007' you may need to run some of the command-line tools now located at:

sourcesdk\bin\source2007\bin

The command-line tools needed for 'Source Engine 2006' and 'Source Engine 2009' are still located at:

sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin
and
sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin

Hooray for Hammer fix!

But this CSS update is less appealing. I don't care about the removal of bunny hopping or surfing (although there's a mass of players in an absolute rage over this fact), but the only graphical update I've seen so far is that the c4 explosion is a spiffy particle system. Other than that the muzzle flashes and grenade explosion are the same, there's no motion blur, and no dynamic soft shadows produced from your flash light. The only good things about this update in my opinion are the new scoreboard and stats features. The cinematic camera is an improvement even if it's a carbon copy of TF2's death cam, but whatever.

Oh, and if you want to change your name in game, you have to do it in fuckin Steam Community like in L4D. I hate that shit. I like how it's independent of Steam Community in the current CSS and you can just do it via console. So much more convenient.

Well, I really want to see what it looks like...

It does sound stupid to make such a big deal about an update that really isn't that big. If it's just small graphical improvements then no biggie. I guess porting engines is a big deal for them...

But, if they removed surfing and the ability to b-hop, that makes me mad. I wasted many hours surfing, it was one of the more fun aspects of CSS, that you could go and mess around, rather than having to be competitive all the time. If I had a bad day, I went and surfed. And while I never really could b-hop well, there were times where it could give me a slight edge in game.

I hope they don't mess this game up...

I hate bunny hopping in any game, it looks dumb as hell and is completely unrealistic. It also sounds like it doesn't do too much graphically,

I would agree that straight bunny hopping across the map is stupid and unrealistic. But there are times when I like to be able to jump, just once, again quickly. And without that, I would be a little annoyed, but I wouldn't stop playing...

I looked on youtube, but have yet to see much incredible stuff. The cubemaps look better... And the ui is... better? I can't gauge in until I see it...

There's only one thing I need from a CS:S update, and that's the ability to filter out any servers that demand I download shitty Quake 3 and Simpsons sounds before I can join! Fingers crossed.
Mappers Top Tip #548
Lighting: The arrangement, hue and intensity of one or multiple light sources.
Lightning: A dazzling discharge of electric sparks in the atmosphere, often preceding thunder.

You can already disable custom sounds being downloaded, right?
