Not that I've ever been able to find Delta. As far as I can tell they only thought to introduce a filter in TF2.

It does seem strange seeing as Quake 1 and all of its predecessors all offered a good selection of such download filters, so at some point in the evolution of the Source engine they must actually have thought it was a good idea to remove it. Meh.

ehh guys, to block custom sounds

Code: Select all
cl_downloadfilter "nosounds"

It might be nosound without the s, you should try it. But it works 100%, I used it all the time when I hd to download those fucking annoying quake sounds.

You can already disable custom sounds being downloaded, right?

Yea, I tried it out, isn't included indeed.

HDR/Bloom is broken for CS:S atm. This might help some of you.

DO NOT WANT

So there going to update css so i get even less FPS then i do now? and it'll use more RAM -

Ok, here's my explanetion:
When the HDR update came out for CSS the final sizes for the maps increased because of LDR and HDR lighting.
Since the CSS/HL2/SOURCE Load the whole map in to RAM both LDR and HDR even for people with HRD turned Off.
With every say second or third update there was a negative performance hit.

When CSS came out i got 120fps - 70fps in battle) fps in cs_office with a ATI Radon 9200 1024X768(?) with medium settings.
I get less FPS now on Fresh install of XP and steam with 2.0Ghz dual core and and ATI x1950 PRO on the same settings. About 140fps if i face someting boaring but in battle it's as low as 35fps.
(all update drivers, all tuned up etc etc etc)

If you got the money - good for you, but for everyone eles expect at lest 15% drop in frames if not more, might make CSS unplayable for you - will for me.

So anyone wanna give me some money? :P

Good bye CSS - we had great times so many hours, so meny head shots, and so many failed maps i made for it, gonna play it now - while i still can.

BTW i have hammer problem too just another kick in pants i guess - like nice idea but maybe css2 instead ? better idea right?
Valve wish list:
-Triangle Displacements in hammer/source
-Movable Datum(grid) Planes in hammer
& Arc Based Datum Planes
-Counter Strike 2

Ninja all I got from that was "wahwahwahwah I'm trying to run semi-new software on an ancient system but valve won't let me wahwahwah"

If you can't run CSS, don't bother upgrading, just get a new computer.

In reply to bouncy_ninja:

30 fps is a common frame rate for some games(Halo2), it's the bare playable minimum though. You don't need 9001fps for your game to run smoothly, you only need 30-60.

Also, a good mid-range card, is a 5770. Very good for it's price.

If it's going to orange box we should finally get proper multi core support, frame rates should actually get better, if you have a multi core cpu of course.
