HL2 is now on the OB engine

Postby Corigami on Thu May 27, 2010 2:49 am

I don't know if anyone else cares, but HL2 and Ep.1 are now on the orange box engine with new achievements. Yeah it's a little overdue but I'll take any excuse to replay the series.

I don't have a crosshair in HL2 anymore.

I'm just waiting for Valve to release an update that isn't loaded with crippling bugs.

Hi everyone. I'm one of the author of Hl2 mods "Random Quest" and "The Citizen".
I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problems as me with this new update. Sure the engine looks better, but none of my voice acting works, scripted_sequences, certain model animations and npc navigation are bugged etc.
Not only is this happening in the current mod I'm working on (The Citizen 2) but I've noticed that ALL custom maps and mods based on the HL2 engine (good old AppID 220) have these problems and are downright unplayable if scene files are part of them.
Is this only happening to me or has Valve REALLY decided with this update to ignore all the maps and mods we have been making these past 6 years?

Blaming the mac would be a remarkably stpid thing to do. Nonetheless it does sound rather fun and therefore I will join.

Down with mac fanboys! Fight the power!

I assume they didn't bother to compile all the maps again for HDR, or maybe it's just really dull.
