Or in the gameplay videos, where the tractor bea is removed and the turret flies into the portal going "good bye"! :D

Did you guys see these? I knew it was possible source is so flexible, look at this, someone took all the elements )hekc even some of the ROOMS) and remade them in Portal 1!

Thermal Discouragement Beam (it even blows up the turrets!):

BTW, how do you make particle effects go through portals?

You can detect where portal 1 or 2 is placed with a func_portaldetector & then spawn an entitymaker at the !activator position. So for the vacuum tube you'd have a detector under the vent which enables another set of detectors, which when fired into will spawn a portal-suction template (particle effect + probably a negative-value point_push).

So you fake it. Still better than nothing!

How do you make a group of entities (let's say a box and a light_dynamic parented to it) be spawned by a spawner? Do you put the name of one in template 1 and the name of the other in template 2? And when it's activated it spawns both?

I stilll see problems with this. In the box's case let's say it isn't destroyed when another light-box is created. Wouldn't the parenting make the light from one box follow the other? If so is there a way around this?

Getting rather sick of seeing Valve making sequels to games and not finishing series. Portal two and soon to be Left 4 Dead three? I remember back in the day when development processes on games where 2 years+ and people waited for the most epic scenarios to evolve at their fingertips when first purchasing a game.

Left4Dead One was released Novemeber 2008. By Next year, that's a staggering THREE games developed in 2 1/2 - 3 years.

This is bullshit Valve, Stop trying to make money, and finish the first fucking series that shot you into the eyes of the Gaming Industry in the first place.

back in the days it was allot easier to develop a game, I bet you can imagine why
also, everybody is expecting big things for EP3, that takes more time as well

once the game it out, I bet I will say the waiting was worth it :)

I actually don't feel that Valve should rush Ep3, I'm not like... Expecting it in a long time and I'm not thinking about it much. Portal 2 looks great and I'm sure any possible Left 4 Dead 3 will be as good, 'cause you all know we're gonna bloody well buy it.

Valve is currently making EP3 and you must keep in mind that Half-Life 2 took 6 years to make, and it's not uncommon for a company to work on more than one project at a time.
