Rayman Origins

Dunno how many Rayman fans there are, but I'm pretty pumped for this. I never liked the original, but the 2nd and 3rd 3D games are some of my favorite platformers.

Origins is a prequel to the original and is 2D, but it looks great. Ubisoft created some new tools that they're using to develop the game and plan to release them for free for the community to use to make their own art. The art in the game is made by people who aren't associated with game design, so all the music and characters have a unique style to them. It's definitely worth a look at least, check it out:

I personally love how they make Rayman and Globox act absolutely retarded together. It just fits perfectly.

I played a demo of one of the 3dversions some years ago. That was actually really fun to play back then, had some great gameplay elements.
Though I am not sure if I gonna buy this, well probaly depend on the price but it seems really cool, 2d scrollers is nice for change ;)

Aah I remember I played a full game for like 2 hours once on a playstation I think, that was also good^^

This is REALLY old but still cool, Ubisoft said they would release the tools used to make this game, to the public. I can't find the video though, they gave it to a few people and the different art styles were awesome.

Ah man, Rayman 2 for the N64 was really, really, good. That's all I have to say on that.

But as for this game, I love how they're making rayman and Gloobox (is that how it's spelled?) seem like total idiots, at least as children.

Yes, Rayman 2 was definitely the shit. I think the N64 version was the best presentably, but the Dreamcast and PC versions had better audio quality. However, the PC version's controls were shitty and couldn't be remapped, so the game was pretty much unplayable. No controller support either.

What was your favorite level? I think mine would have to be the one where you first ride on the explosive shell guy and you can run on the walls with him and stuff. I remember spending like 2 hours just screwing around in that level, cruising all over the place. The level where you fly with him though...it was way too difficult with an N64 controller.

I loved the 3rd game too, but I didn't like how they went back to him tossing his fists, and the powerups were pretty much situational. I loved how in the 2nd game he threw the little dinky light orbs around and they would bounce off surfaces, it was just so much cooler.

I'd honestly prefer a new 3D game, but as long as it's not another fucking Raving Rabbids, I'm happy

Yea I remember when they showed this at E3, UBIart looks pretty cool.

This is the only official stuff I could find though.

EDIT:
The trailer,
Contact. The EU welcomes the pain free. That's emotional impact.

Great trailer, looks charming. Is it coming out for PC, and when?

As far as we know, the PC, Wiiware, Nintendo 3DS, iPad, and iPhone platforms are still being considered. It's coming to Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network near the end of the year though. If it doesn't come to PC, then I'll be pretty angry considering that it's going to come with the tools that Ubisoft used to make it and I can't see how they would be used to their full potential on a console.
