Think of it this way.
Delay means they'll have access to better tech in the future which means better visuals to be rendered by a sexy new engine.

There's already a gameplay teaser for Battlefield 3, and it looks way better than UE3 from what is seen so far.

Still...I think Mirrors Edge should stay as an UE3 (or UE4 if it's out before ME2 begins development) series. It just feels...right...
PS: I've seen the gameplay teaser, but it's so brief with the scenes I can't really get a good look at things. I want to see a full fledged gameplay trailer before I make any real judgements. It did look pretty detailed though.
