Skyrim

Postby MayheM on Tue Nov 29, 2011 9:57 pm

So I have heard some good things about Skyrim and I was considering getting it. The question is, console or PC? If it is a FPS style RPG then I would much rather have it on my PC. However if it is third person, then console would work fine. So if you have played it, which would you suggest?

Played on both X360/PC. I'll being genuinely honest (even as an avid PC gamer) that it's an equal experience on both systems.

Take your pick, whatever's cheapest/most convenient to you I guess.

PC all the way. TES games are great with no mods, but they really shine with and they are already streaming in.

Don't own the game personally, but if the modding potential is anything near like that of Oblivion, you're gonna want to get it on PC
Seriously, you play the game once, mod the shit out of it, and play a second completely different game, all to your own tastes

Think, how would you feel now if you had got HL2/TF2/etc. on the DirectXBox...

No mods and shit graphics.

Just sayin'

My plan is to wait until the GOTY Edition is released so I can collect all that DLC and all those bug fixes in one shot.

Skyrim is a great game. Its nothing but improvements over Oblivion. Its definitely my GOTY. Sorry Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I loved you, but I love Skyrim more.

I was just wondering where you can play the best Skyrim graphics? PC or PS3?

I'd imagine equal or greater on the PC. I mean, you could max them, and if that's not enough get mods to tweak it to your liking.

Definitely the PC, but you will need a nice computer to run it smooth. The mods are what makes The Elder Scrolls and Fallout a million times better on the PC.

But I'm told you can actually get mods on the PS3 version, so long as they're not too complicated (like retextures). There's several texture packs for the landscape, flora, weapons, and armor that make the game look amazingly detailed. Just check these mods out:

You'd need a 1gb GPU at the very least if you wanted to run those mods without any performance hitches. You'd probably need a lot of RAM too (at least 4 gigs).

There's also another mod that redoes the stars and galaxy at night time, and a mod that redoes the dungeon textures completely.

Also, it's official mod tools are coming out in a few days so you'll be able to do anything you want in the game. I shall be making the perfect house for myself because all of the stock ones suck. :smt023
