I honestly can't stand GFWL at all. It's completely shitty in every aspect. I don't even understand how Microsoft is capable of producing a piece of software as bad as GFWL is. It took me half an hour to get my copy of Arkham City registered to my Live account because of one bull shit thing after another.
I think Fable 3, aside from being a generally shitty game, is the best example of Windows Live sucking ass. It runs the 3rd party client in the background, which eats up a considerable amount of processing power; more than Steam believe it or not. On top of that, every time I'd exit Fable 3, the client would still run in the background. Whenever I'd exit the client, it would take a good 5 minutes just to fully close down at times, all while making Windows Explorer lag total ass. With games like Arkham city or Fallout NV, it doesn't run the client in the background, it just integrates it in the game like the Steam Overlay. That's tolerable after you get past the activation bull shit.
There's actually a petition to have them remove GFWL before the game launches. Honestly, I can deal with it if it stays. But it would seriously be better overall for the game to NOT have it. GFWL does nothing but bog games down. People like to install a game then jump in and start playing right away. But when you have to sit through the shitty Windows Live interface and register the CD key, then wait for Live to download your profile for the umpteenth time, then for it to stop and say you need to update Live for the umpteenth time; it kind of fucks with users. It's just...a big giant headache every single time.
They'd do so much better to instead use the Steam API for this game. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes to Steam, considering Bandai Namco helped publish The Witcher 2, which is on Steam.
