Games Similar to Far Cry/Crysis?

So, I'm looking for games that have a sandbox like way of approaching problems, but reward you for doing so stealthily. In Far Cry, once you got the silenced MP5, it was all over for the enemies. Anything similar? (PC)

Uhh.. ever heard of Hitman series? Crysis/Far Cry aren't really even close the type of game you described (stealth, sandbox).

What are you talking about? Crysis 1 had tons of stealth in it. Like he said, it was just one of many ways you could go about completing objectives. I never played Farcry 1 but I imagine it was very similar, considering it was by Crytek and Crysis was practically a spiritual successor to it.

I don't think there's any other games out there that are first person shooters, have big open environments, and have optional stealth mechanics. I'm pretty sure that was unique to the games you mentioned.

Dishonored is an upcoming game will those qualities. I'm pretty excited for it.

Yeah FC1/Crysis are somewhat unique in that respect. Ghost Recon games do have large open environments with stealth based weapons, but they are very unforgiving and won't allow you to run & gun like in FC1/Crysis.

STALKER also mixes sandbox with stealth gameplay, but it has very steep difficulty curve. Not sure I can think of any others tbh.

Actually, STALKER has zero stealth mechanics whatsoever. They had planned to incorporate stealth in to the game but they claimed the engine's limitations prevented them from doing so.

There is a mod called LURK which adds a ton to the game, and even manages to pull off a stealth system, though it's not perfect. You can basically be standing directly in front of a guy when it's night time and he won't realize you're there. But aside from that, Stalker is an awesome game that's worth playing.


PS: Dishonored will be a fantastic game I bet. Definitely looking forward to it.
