Hey Guys,

I'm having an interesting problem with the Half life 2 series ( EP 1 & 2, Deathmatch, etc) I just recently set up a new computer and have just did a fresh install of all my games. Upon launching a game, it crashes with no error message or the game wont even launch at all. The only game that will run though is Black Mesa.

Any ideas or suggestions on some things I could try? I'm currently Validating the Steam cache files for each game to see if that helps...

Run Steam as administrator. Disable UAC all together while you're at it :- )

Did you tried it yet? This happens with me during the launch of NFS carbon. I assigned administrative rights to the shortcut of game and then ran it in compatibility mode for XP SP3, it works fine for me. Try it. By the way, I have Windows 7 SP 1.

It may be because your PC couldn't handle the process, did you check the minimum requirement for the game?
