yeah i was dissapointed with not seeing the demo stuff ingame, I was looking forward to shooting them with an F and a U :D
I thought all those combine people were just humans hired by the benefactors to carry out their dirty work to give more of a "human" like authority so ti would be easier to control people?

Yes matrix 3 answered all the questions but that was out like 4 months after matrix 2. I doubt HL3 will be out in 4 months :)

Half-Life 2 isn't for people who can't figure out a story that's isn't presented to them on a plate. Look around the world that you're in - plenty of indications to the story. Valve left you to look for the information with subtle hints dotted around as you travled. Valve is all about 'show - don't tell'.

The Combine are an Alien Race (duh) that attacked Earth and totally kicked the living shit out of it within 7 Hours. Hence the 7 Hour War that Eli mentions to you in his lab when you look at the pictures and newspaper clippings on the board. Breen managed to become a representative of Earth and convinced the remanining world leaders to submit to the Combine or be destroyed. So Breen was appointed as the main figurehead of what remained of the world by the Combine. Although I expect he was in contact with the Combine even before Half-Life 1.

Breen is just a peon. He got himself in a position where he could promise the Combine that he'd be able to supress the human rebels and make humanity a usefull resource to the Combine if they'd let him try. As you hear in the propoganda - his intention is to make the Human Race imortal by removing instinct, desire and emotion. All emotions are banned along with Reproduction, hence no Children in City-17. Supression Fields are also set up throughout the City. Breens plan almost succeeded, except he didn't count on Gordon turning up to kick some serious behind. The Combine knew that Gordon ment trouble so they sent everything they had after him the moment they knew he was in the City. Breen thought he could get the Combine to spare humanity if humanity would submit themselves. So que drugs in the water, mass supression and crap propoganda. (bio logical weapons fired into rebel towns, ant lions let lose into the wild so people had little choice on where to go)

Although, I admit, I was slightly dissapointed with the cliffhanger ending. I was hoping for a little more information on the G-Man and Half-Life 1 - but oh well. As long as I don't have to wait another 6 years.

my theory on g-man is he is a rebel combine hero like gordon is to the humans. he overheard their plans to invade earth so he left early to try and save humanity cuz killing things is rong unless they're bad guys in half-life/hl2

I dunno about gman, he seems pritty powerful. if he can slow time to a fraction of the speed then surely the rest of "his people" have just as much power?
Im not sure who g-man is yet, Im not even sure if he is a goodie or a baddie. maybe in HL3 you find stuff out and you have to fight him for the final battle.

that was actually my initial theory and it seems plausible but in every other game they always do that. if they have any brains they wont do that. they'll do something creative like g-man was a 7th beta army unit who became overly powerful and got away. they'll have h-man and i-man and all these other types of bots and cool shite like that. projects that suceeded

thats an idea, maybe the G in G man stands for something. that might be the key.
I find it hard to believe that the G is just a letter like in men in black..

Your contract is open to the highest bidder. G-Man is renting you out. What you saw Breen talking too is the real face of the Combine. They're totally dependant on Technology. Through they're evolution they've become more and more dependant on it to the point where they cannot survive without it.

maybe g-man is actually you (gordon) from the future....that could explain why he looks so tired..."rise and shine, mr.freeman, rise and shine"
