Wow that reply to your thread was rather savvy.

Try Happy's ideas and see if they work. I never run the game right after a compile because it's less optimal for your components. Hammer is a RAM whore, and having Episode 2 on top of that is just more RAM down the drain.

Option to run the game after compiling uses some weird config, not the one you play with.

Why won't anybody help me with the similar problem I have.

EDIT: It has been resolved, finally. A big thank you to Dionysos for helping me resolve it.

Thanks for the in depth solution Mr Happy but I'm not trying to run the game from Hammer. I'm trying to run the game from Steam.

did you put any dll files in c:/windows/system32, delete them but make sure you only delete the ones from the hl2 episode 1 bin folder.

Its what JeamesP said... check your windows\system folder for any of the dlls that are found in your sourcesdk/bin folders. I downloaded a "missing" dll and placed it in my system folder because I was trying to get Cannon Fodder's model decompiler working and when I deleted the dll from the system folder, the game launched again.

Thanks JeamesP cause I never would have associated the problem with a dll in the system folder.

I was able to solve 'Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specified procedure could not be found.' by deleting vstdlib.dll in C:\WINDOWS\system32. (Using Windows XP) The problem occured after installing Studio Compiler. I got an error message after launching Studio Compiler. ("The procedure entry point Q_vsnprintf could not be located in the dynamic link library vstdlib.dll") Some quick google advice said that I should put vstdlib.dll in C:\windows\system32 to solve the issue. It didn't work, and putting it in the bin folder didn't help either. I am sure that other factors can cause this message, just letting you kn ow what solved it for me. (P.S. vstdlib.dll is still in my bin folder, and I am still able to launch cs:s from steam.)

Here's how I fixed this.

Go to STEAM.
Click on the TOOLS tab.
Install LEFT 4 DEAD DEDICATED SERVER.

It will work now.

Hey mate, no reason to necropost. This thread is a year old.

Also, I didn't know The Watcher was banned.
