HDD Failed on a HP Vista comp.. what now?

Okay I have been using a spare computer for the last couple of days so her is the low down..
It first started when I noticed huge lag times and bootup became slow then next thing you know you got windows on bootup before it hits the bios saying you need new Hardrive LOL. So the thing is I am DEAD sick of vista and want to get XP but of course I can't find any drivers for my motherboard that HP gave me. its an ASUS P5LP-LE.. But, I did find one thread on a forum but my lack of good computer knowledge left me blank, here is the thread maybe someone can decipher it for me.

Also I have an nvidia 8300gs and I assume I'll be able to find new XP drivers for that right?
