throughout history windows beta testers have been given a free copy of the OS they were beta testing. Lets hope microsoft keeps it like that.

I've just installed 3.11 on VMWare ironically...it's a pity IE3 doesn't support forums too well, it works but very hard to navigate.

Everything I've read about it has been positive so far which gives me reason to be optimistic about a worthy successor to XP.

Mmm I'll stick with Vista since it's a lot more stable and I've grown used to the silly features that are mostly turned off.

If it doesn't, Microsoft will have a full scale riot on it's hands... Seriously though, I seem to remember reading that they were planning on making DX10 cards compatable with future DXs for as long as possible.

Watch for HL3 to be native OpenGL.
I seriously think it's gonna happen.

No friggin' way... Seriously? How'd you find that out?

Well, that would entail some major work overs. Maybe that's why we've heard nothing of ep3???

you'll no longer have to click on tiny objects in the corner of a window to make it do what you want.

Maximize a window by dragging its border to the top of the screen

Well fucking hoooray for that. Often I find i'm just unable to click an icon in the corner and pine for the ability to drag my windows to the top of the screen to use them.

Seriously. What a great new feature list of things we could either do anyway or stuff that's complete wank.

I've downloaded the X64 bit beta, I'm going to try it out in a bit :D

You guys are so negative, it looks pretty good so far. And weren't they going for compatibility, performance and less unwanted add-ons to begin with and the option to get them later in windows 7?

Ill run a few tests and see how it holds up for me.
