That's clearly not true. Everyone else has been reporting increased boot times and general speed - something Vista had a little trouble with to say the least.

Anyway, I've been using it for a couple of days (including solitare and the other standard apps) and have yet to come across something that caused a crash. Still impressed.

It is a edit of vista. all they did was fix a few things.

I haven't found a single error or bug so far. Everything works like a charm and it's way faster. I've moved on to some heavy duty work (as in everyday stuff in Vista) and it's faster and has not failed me yet. I even compiled an insanely badly made map (bad on purpose of course *cough*) and it didn't go "FUCK YOU" once.

Vista always does that... hatemachine.

I've got it as my main OS at the moment to give it a proper test, its runs far better with just about any application than Vista. I love that no matter what game I put in to window mode, it runs perfectly on full graphics when it wasn't even close to doing that in Vista. Dual monitors ftw.

This is weird. Suddenly most applications crash for me. Windows Live Messenger, Windows Installer etc.

I tried disabling UAC completely, but didn't do nothing. So I'm back in Vista, and I hate it (compared to Windows 7) :(

Ah, thanks! It seems others are having the same problem, which I guess is somewhat positive :P

It's definitely not a reskin, but I'm sure it's not a new code base either. It's likely that it's mostly the same kernel and user mode code as Vista with significant shit fixed/improved (that's what's usually done), whatever. That's not important. What's important, is whether or not it works better. And based on popular opinion, it seems that it is - or at lease will.

So I'm giving serious thought to installing Windows 7, but how does the SDK, Steam, and the games work? Any problems at all for anyone?

None at all! I'm going to be installing the 64-bit version on my desktop so I'm quite excited to see how it runs. :P

I'm still running it as my main OS, and still no issues. Good stuff. (running 64bit)
