IPX games in Vista

I did some googleing, and came to the conclusion that Vista no longer supports the IPX Protocol.
This stopped me and a friend from playing Heroes of might and magic 3 over LAN the other day, which is a shame cause the game is bloody awesome.

But I don't feel like giving up yet, so I wanted to ask you networking gurus if there's any way to play the game over lan anymore?

There were a few other options when creating a multiplayer game, such as TCP/IP, Direct Connect and Modem, but none of them seemed to work.

Knowing nothing about this, but could Hamachi somehow emulate IPX? thus making it possible to play this legendary game?

I've had a similar problem with Starcraft. THough there's a patch that adds TCP/IP protocol it still didn't work.

yeah I noticed the same with IPX protocol for Vista 32-bit, that would MAYBE work (also forgot to mention that I run Vista 64-bit )

Hamachi FTW!

Hamachi worked perfectly (after much trial and error) wasn't until later that we figured out that we had to bridge the hamachi connection with the wireless one... I guess the most obvious things sometimes slip by me.
