Looping restart

Postby CanMan on Wed Feb 25, 2009 11:58 pm

Just recently I ran into some problems on my PC. I had started it up one morning to check e-mails and such before school, but it went into recovery mode. I had to run a restore to keep my files and stuff, so I did.

Everything was seemingly running fine, until I had installed some previously needed software and restarted the computer. The computer would begin to load up, but then flash a blue error screen for a fraction of a second (Not the BSOD, just an error), and proceeded to crash at the Windows splashscreen. It kept looping, crashing at the splash screen and starting the process over again until I had interfeared.

It was at this point I did another recovery. Same thing happend, ran fine until I had to restart, then looped. Now I'm afraid to shut down the computer or install anything for fear of having to do another recoverey. I wanted to know if anyone has any insight as to what I can do to fix this problem?

Note; Safe mode doesn't work, I'm running XP, and this just happend out of the blue. Buying new hardware is out of the question until about May. Don't have the XP disk, so a format will just throw me into a bigger pile of shit.

A person I know had a similar problem, as z@c said, get a XP disk. She managed to fix it by taking it to a PC guy who just put in a Xp disk.

As far as I remember, several people in my class had that problem, and all of them seemed to click dodgy links. So methinks it's a virus. But who knows.
