Vista Wierdness

Postby Infamous on Thu Mar 12, 2009 3:53 am

its like my computer is playing games with me. The shutdown menu will disappear after about half a second and the dropdown box is set to restart, so I have to do that really fast. Also when typing the name of a file or a folder it will randomly leave the text editing field and select the file of the next letter i hit. Any idea on how to fix?

Wow, that does sound pretty messed up and you can share the pain as I've had to wipe my PC 5 times so far and I've only had the PC for a year I think.

First time cause PC kept freezing on boot up.
Second time because Nvidia drivers messed up and caused PC to screw up although there was more to it and I can't remember all the details.
Third time uh well I forgot. I think an update made things break and unrepariable.
Lastly I recently formatted because I kept getting blue screens of death every time it'd boot up however if I cancelled the fix menu it would load albeit slow and crappy.

Anyway if Google doesn't bring up answers then I don't know. Perhaps doing a system restore to a point when it worked?

Disabling autplay is imporant simply because its a security risk. Many worms/viri use it (conficker amongst others). Cant remember the exact quote, but some microsoft guy remarked how unfortunately it was too hard to turn off... made me lol in a sad way.

Seriously, for gaming, yes, I get it and I do it as well. But for the rest...
