Yes. It's THE way to overclock your system to the top, without using liquid nitrogen.

Those fans look like they were ripped off an airplane or something.
I say go Guerrilla tactics, rip off the side of your case, take a regular room fan, put the speed to max and BLAST the air inside your PC *nods*

Crap...I needed more of that. Bugger. I always forget to order something!

I decided to just replace the fan this time around, and then look into a new cooling system later in the year (I normally replace my components in the Summer). I needed the replacement pretty sharpish, so it was easier to get the fan & then explore other options when I have more time. :-)

hmm, all the peltiers I've been looking at can use power from a source other than the PSU.

Also I was looking at the heatsink you had, it looks like teh fan is just held in place with four screws

But my friend has a Zalman (yeah, I know) 9700, and it took his E6600 to 3.6 ghz with ease, so I think it should be alright, and you can get some good deals on them. It's also pretty quiet

and there's always the tuniq tower :D

it aint too expensive either, but I have no experience with it.
