I created a new username with full admin privileges (and that deleted the old Admin account) and in the registry I set my old account path for this new account I made. Reboot and voila - my old clutter messy desktop is back there.

I got XP.
Hey there. Been absent from the internets for the last week or so but I've arrived back again, only to find out my Windows went fubar. About a week ago I started playing Fallout3, and I played it for quite a while. Being a game-save-happy person I tend to save games almost every minute so when I turned Fallout off after a long session I had almost 200 saves. Now that's fine, but I had barely any space on my C: drive. Just to clarify things I have a 500 GB HDD, and I have two partitions on it, C: and D:. C: is about 50 gigs and was ment to be used solely for the OS. D: at about 450 gigs was to be used for all the other applications and games. Now I also used to frequently save things on my Desktop and in my pictures, so in the end out of the 50 gigs I had on C:, I had like 300 MB left. Add a couple hudred saves from Fallout and other games, and in the end I had almost 0. I didn't really notice that after my Fallout session, so I simply turned the computer off.
A week later, today that is, I turned on my PC again and BAM - I log in and it tells me that it couldn't load my profile's desktop (which was stored at C:/.../TEMP/Desktop it told me) and something to do with memory. I kept on clicking OK and eventually loaded my profile but with a blank desktop (nothing on it), stock windows settings, and the PC was VERY slow. I realized it had something to do with no space on C: so I deleted most of the Fallout saves, and freed ~200 MB. I restarted my PC, logged in as usual - but my computer went all weird. My desktop is empty save a few shortcuts to applications, I don't have anything in My Documents (no game profiles, no old downloads - nothing) and the visuals are messed up. (very small buttons for window minimizing/closing/etc.)
So I go to C:/documents and Settings/ and I see All Users, my profile's name which is Admin (I know working on admin account isn't the best thing in the world but this computer was built two years ago and I never thought of that at that time), and Admin.12V where 12V is my PC name. This profile did not exist before. Moreoever, it seems that this profile is the one I am currently loaded at even though at the log in screen I still logged under my old profile.
Now my question is, what the hell is wrong? I freed up space but it creates a new empty profile and it seems I am not able to load under the user Admin like I did before, but instead logs under that empty Admin.12V?
If there is no way to fix it, is there a way to reinstall windows without losing data when I have two partitions?
I found tutorials on resintalling windows while keeping data intact but none of them mention multiple partitions.
Oh yes, could I possible install windows 7 but keep my data intact?
