Zune HD

It seems as though Microsoft is releasing a new Zune early September which will be a direct competitor against the Ipod Touch, dubbed the Zune HD.

It looks as though Microsoft might be doing the Zune right this time, especially since with this release of the Zune HD the device and marketplace will be open to everyone worldwide.

A few features confirmed by Microsoft are:
-OLED 16:9 touch screen: (No need for a backlight, richer blacks, longer battery life)
-HD Radio: Don't know to much about this but apparently makes AM sound like FM and FM sound like CD on stations that support it
-Web browser

There are still more features to be announced according to Brian Seitz who is Microsoft's product marketing manager.

So excited for it, but "It looks as though Microsoft might be doing the Zune right this time"? I love my Zune (version 1.0). Far better than any piece of iTrash. The new iPods are better, but iTunes is still shit.

There actually was a rumour at some point that it's going to have Nvidias Terga Chipset, wich makes it powerfull enough to run old Xbox games.

Some even speculate the PMP will support 3D Xbox games, if the Zune HD will actually use Nvidia's Tegra chipset.

Yeah, don't know if it's true or not but theres quite a few rumors circulating about it running XBOX games.

I hope it is! I love my zune much better then those pieces of iShit.

I've had my iPhone for quite a while and love it.
I've pretty much lost faith in Microsoft by now because of their attitude and only reason I'd buy Zune HD is the old Xbox games.

Sorry but it was to my understanding that OLED is a new technology and is rather expensive even for small screens.

I mean, check out the Nokia N65, that's frickin' £300 and only has a 2.6" screen.

I mainly use my cell for on-the-go music. It's a Sony Ericsson W902, and in the box I found the best freakin' earphones I ever had. Sound quality is awsome and I got an 8 Gig' card in the box, not to mention the supercool phone-card-to-USB-stick adapter that also came with it. It lets you slide the MS into a little USB stick and connect it to the PC like a flash disk-on-key. Also I got a sweet cable connecting the phone to my PC and allowing for file transfers and using my phone as a modem.

Sure there are better phones out there and better music players too - but I don't really need or even want a flashy player. I think that Sony Ericsson really nailed a perfect package with the W902, and having such great audio quality on the go is really a new standard for me. I see no reason to get anything else for the time being.

Holy crap, Microsoft can learn!

The Zune is a very solid mp3 player that has simply always been a step behind competing iPods. I don't really care for iTunes (okay, it's my very least favorite player) so I've gone about avoiding iPods as a rule of thumb which has landed me some good players and some bad ones. the OLED here looks great (and yes, they're more expensive than LCD, but for relatively small screens it's not too big of a deal. In fact, the new iPhone is supposed to be rocking OLED) the form factor is surprisingly thing and svelte and if they launch this baby in 32GB at a relatively reasonable price (<$400) I'll be snapping it up come september for sure.
