Screen corruption.

Postby The Doctor on Mon Jun 15, 2009 7:29 am

I was doing some work in Hammer when all of a sudden I get this:

That has also happened in Lost Coast and Sin: Emergence and it occurs when the mouse is moved, no other games have exhibited that corruption so I'm guessing it's a Source related issue, or a driver/Source issue. I'm running Nvidia Forceware 185.85 on Vista x64 with a brand new GTX260+. I'll update the drivers and see if it goes away. Anyone else had similar issues with the 185.85 drivers in Source games?

Edit: Damn! 185.85 are the latest drivers :(

I sometimes get texture stretching when panning around in 3D, but I've never seen that. Got a 8800 GTS. I haven't updated my drivers in ages though. Try falling back on drivers?

I managed to get a screenshot from in Lost Coast:

I'll try going back to the last driver set that was released and see if it goes away.

Does it happen in non-Source games?

No, it only seems to be Source games. For some reason I don't think they like the 185.85 drivers. I just played through Lost Coast with the 182.50 set and I had no problem. I'll have to test some other games more extensively, but I think the drivers were the problem.

Weird... I'm using 185.81 on W7 x64 without problems, and they are the same build as 185.85.

Perhaps the final 185.85 version has a bug, or my set are corrupt in some way.

Ah! Shit. Hammer just did it again with the 182.50. I'm downloading the 186.08 Beta set now and see if it changes anything. Other than drivers, I have no idea what the problem could be.

186.08 Beta drivers made things much worse. I've gone back to the 185.50.
