Model browser crashes Hammer

Postby nub on Wed Jun 17, 2009 2:52 am

It's apparent that Valve's recent little SDK update for the TF2 VMFs has caused an issue with the VGUI model browser crashing Hammer.

Fortunately, there's a simple fix that has worked for most people. Disabling the VGUI model browser and using the old browser instead should allow you to continue making your maps. Some people claim to get a crash regardless. Some are saying using the old browser works 50% of the time. So far it's solved the issue for me, but I really want the VGUI browser back.

So if you are having this issue, then try disabling your VGUI model browser if you have not done so already. If this doesn't fix it for you, then I guess you will have to wait for Valve to fix it themselves.

Anyway, I just thought I would post this because some of you are getting this problem based on the comments in the news on the update. Hope this helps. Oh, and here's the thread I found on the Steam forums about the issue:

Why is the model browser so damn touchy.
