then it narrows things down indeed
run a stress test on your CPU and RAM
if those two come out clean it has to do with either bad fan / unclean fans / overheating (again, look for large chunks of dust's built up in one of your main fans. sometimes it's some as simple as that.

I run this to stress my processor, or processor and ram when I'm overclocking, it might help you out.

Fixed now by installing XP onto a formatted HDD. Never found out exactly what it was and it was getting worse and worse.

Spoke too soon there. It started happening again. Getting really sluggish, so...

Done another completely fresh XP install and steam and HL2DM. From the off, it's got shiny guns and frame rates in the red.

Memtest was on for 24 hours and it still didn't finish so I turned it off.

Who has a computer that can't handle HL2DM.. Even the most basic OFFICE computers can handle that shite game.

first of all HL2DM is far from a shit game. it's more like the best FSP ever to hit the planet.
secondly, HL2DM make heavy use of CPU for your knowledge. it can be very heavy on many computers.
learn your facts mate ;)

You could easily buy a computer that could run it on Max.. Ghees.. Just fking upgrade..
