Going to sell my two Nvidia 9800GTX's

Postby MayheM on Wed Jul 15, 2009 4:37 pm

So I am bad at judging prices and such but I just upgraded to a 295 and want to sell my 9800's but I want to know what a reasonable asking price would be. I would be selling them as a pair with the the SLI bridge.

So what should i sell these bad boys for?

I say look the exact model's retail price up, times it by two, round it to the nearest $10 (EX: $342 rounded to $340), then decrease that by about 20% or more maybe?

Unless there's some issue with the cards, you shouldn't have to decrease the selling price by a lot. In fact, no one wants to buy a graphics card with issues anyway. I'm not the most educated on selling pc hardware either, so I'm sure someone else around here has better insight.

1. Were they overclocked?
2. Were they damaged at all?
3. How long have you been using them?
4. What brand?

Right now on Newegg, that single card has a retail price of ~$149.99-$119.99. If somebody wants to buy that particular card, I'd be a good idea to make your calling price maybe 20-30% lower than the lowest retail price. So, depending on what kinda shape your cards are in, you could sell 1 for like $90 or 2 for like $168.

They where never overclocked, and no damage They are still in my machine and working well. Used for about 6 months to a year. they are BFG.

Mr. Chop that is what I was actually thinking.

The only reason I upgraded was a bottle neck on my computer. I have a Dell XPS 630. When you have two cards running SLI it shares the bandwidth on the two ports to be 8x each. It was one of those fine print things I read after I got it. The XPS 730 does not have that issue. So I am not getting the full use out of the cards. With the 295 I will get the full 16x since it is SLI on one card. So I am not getting rid of the 9800s because I have any issues with the card themselves.

Thanks for the feedback guys...

I'm selling 1 9800 gtx + for $130, and I doubt I'll get any bids on it. I wouldn't go ever $300, or close.

oh, and if you want a third 9800 contact me at corigami@gmail.com or pm ;D

They're going for about 130-180 on ebay each, maybe you should put them up there...
